About Hunter
Hunter Caparelli is a dedicated sports journalist and a current sports and news multimedia journalist for Spectrum News 1 Buffalo. Before joining Spectrum News, Hunter graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in June 2026, earning his degree in a Master of Science in Broadcast and Digital Journalism with a specialization in the Sports Media and Communications track. With a passion for storytelling, live broadcasting, and digital content creation, Hunter has built a dynamic career covering collegiate and professional sports.
Hunter graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media in December 2024, earning his bachelor’s with distinction in Media & Journalism and Exercise and Sport Science – Sport Administration, with a minor in Coaching Education. During his time at UNC, he held key leadership roles in sports broadcasting, working with ACC Network’s GoHeels Productions as a production assistant and Hussman School’s Sports Xtra weekly sports news show as an anchor. Hunter also served as a Student Sideline Reporter for UNC women’s soccer, UNC women’s basketball, and UNC baseball on ACC Network Extra, gaining hands-on experience in live game coverage and sports production.
Additionally, after graduating UNC a semester early, Hunter interned at ESPN’s college sports hub in Charlotte, home to ESPNU and SEC Network, and collaborated with video editors to produce high-level show content such as the Paul Finebaum Show, Marty & McGee, SEC Now, and Rally Cap. Once he arrived at Syracuse, Hunter continued to work for ACC Network Extra as a sideline reporter and studio analyst for Syracuse field hockey and Syracuse men’s and women’s basketball, and interned for 247Sports CuseNation while at Syracuse as a sports reporter for the men’s basketball team where he created and produced weekly multimedia content. Hunter worked for ESPN Radio Syracuse 97.7 as an on-air host for the weekly hour-long Syracuse athletics sports talk show Newhouse After Noon as well.
During his undergraduate study at UNC, Hunter also expanded his professional experience with WBNG TV 12, the CBS affiliate in Binghamton, NY, where he interned as a sports news reporter, further sharpening his skills in local sports news coverage. As Hunter continues to grow in his field with Spectrum News, he remains committed to delivering compelling, insightful, and engaging sports journalism across multiple platforms.
